The Realistic Golf Tour is set up to simulate real golf - as close as possible to how we play in real life. Below are the Tour and Game Play Settings that will be used for the tour. If there is an item that you would like to discuss or can bring a better approach, please post here.

01

Duration: 7 Days, 3 Rounds to complete

Considering the approach is strongly sim-minded, it will be tough for everyone to complete 4 rounds in a week. This is open for discussion, but from what I have read, it has been a good set up for those that are limited on time, but still enough time to compete.

02

Green Grid: Off

Greens are BEAUTIFUL. Let's keep them that way. There are values towards the Play Settings below that will help individuals read the greens. Yes, I would love to have the Scout Cam (zoom to aim) on so for the greens, but then we're back to a non-sim approach because of the exploit of using zoom to aim for landing areas.

03

Wind Meter: Off

I did not realize just how many of us like to play with this off. There will be no "wind waiting" with this set up, but that is not the reason it's off. The reason it is off is to further simulate that real golf feel of what the wind might be doing at any given time. These are elements we should not be able to control, and it will separate the better golfers from the rest.

04

Shot Suggestion: Off

This is a sure fire way to explore more ways to play the game, and use more strategy. When the club is given automatically, it just suggests what you should use - and removes any creativity that you might want to try as a player.

05

Scout Camera (Zoom to Aim): Off

Without a doubt the catalyst to unrealistic game play. You should not be able to zoom into a target and see what lies before you. This results in removing the ambition and creativity of the course designer. Blind shots are back with this off, and more course strategy is required - just like the real game!

06

Approach & Putting Cameras: On

While the putting camera can be somewhat clunky it still produces realistic results in terms of reading the green. You can click the buttons to see different preset angles which allows your round to move quickly if you'd like, or you can swing down and see each angle to make the perfect putt or approach shot.

07

Ghost Balls: on - turn based preferred

Having ghost balls on does allow the player to see the lines of certain putts or approaches, however it is a bit of a grey area as it does mimick real life where you are able to see the results of your playing partners. Most RGT Members turn off this option, and we hold the honor system in place as it is impossible to police. Within recent discussion, it's been agreed that Ghost Balls are permissable, however it is advised to use Turn Order enabled on the representation of playing with a partner brings in more realism to the round.

08

Chipping on the green: no

No Flops/pitches/chips or any shots with a club other than the putter on the green unless your direct line to the hole is blocked.

09

PC ONLY - F12 KEY EXPLOIT

Some PC users are not aware of this, but keeping in line with the rules of golf and RGT, we request for RGT members not to use this exploit. When the F12 key is pressed, it allows the player to use essentially a "Scout Camera" of the terrain, giving a disadvantage to those console users. While this is impossible to police, we at the RGT feel strongly about peserving the respectability of not only other RGT members, but the game of golf that we love.
